Uniform

 Ashby Hastings Dress Code

The following guidelines are intended to provide a safe learning environment for pupils and staff whilst also responding to the views of parents and pupils. We believe school uniform is important for several reasons:

  • It promotes a sense of pride in the school.
  • It engenders a sense of community and belonging towards the school.
  • It is practical and smart.
  • It makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance.
  • It is regarded as suitable wear for the school and good value for money by most parents.
  • It is designed with health and safety in mind.

All uniform should be named to avoid loss.

The Uniform is:

  • Navy Ashby Hastings Primary School sweatshirt or cardigan with logo
  • White or Turquoise polo shirt with/ or without school logo or white shirt.
  • Grey trousers/skirt/smart shorts/pinafore and a navy gingham dress in summer.
  • White/black or grey socks or grey, black or navy tights.

Footwear

Children should wear black leather or leather look shoes (patent also acceptable), with black boots acceptable in winter months.

P.E Kit

Indoor: Should be in a named P.E bag

  • House Coloured t-shirt
  • Black shorts
  • Plimsolls or trainers

Outdoor:

  • House coloured t-shirt shirt
  • Black shorts/ tracksuit/ jogging bottoms/ leggings with a black/ House coloured hoodie or sweatshirt.
  • Trainers

It is essential that kit be brought to school for ALL P.E. lessons. We recommend that children bring it on Monday and take it home for washing on a Friday.  P.E. bags with the school logo can also be purchased.

Hair and Jewellery

  1. Hair colour should be an appropriate colour and style for school, and accessories be kept to a minimum. Pupils with long hair should tie it back for hygiene and safety reasons.
  2. Make-up, nail varnish and temporary tattoos are not permitted.
  3. Simple stud earrings and a watch are the only jewellery permitted (exceptions will be made for medical/religious jewellery by prior agreement with the Headteacher).
  4. Pupils will be requested to remove studs or tape them up for physical activities. Please send your child with a roll of micro-pore tape to keep in their bag. They need to be able to use the tape to cover the earrings whilst doing P.E.

School book bags, PE bags and other uniform items are all available from our uniform supplier.

Hats / Caps - We recommend that caps be worn during hot weather, when outside.

Suppliers

Our uniform supplier is Ashby Schoolwear (located inside Baby Planet) on Market Street in Ashby de la Zouch. Uniform can be purchased in store or online at www.ashbyschoolwear.co.uk. We will add a further supplier as the school grows in size.
